The Innate Ability To Heal Is In Your DNA

The power of the mind as an integral part of one's healing and well-being has long been understood in the eastern sciences of Ayurveda, and modern western medicine has been moving in this direction as well. New research is happening simultaneously in the field of immunotherapy to boost one's own immune system to fight off cancer and other autoimmune diseases.

A patient has to be an active participant in his or her own health. How one perceives one's situation is a very important factor in how the body responds to stress. Fear and anxiety are strong deterrents to healing. Healing Yogic exercises including mindful breathing have been long known to reduce stress and bring harmony and balance.

Mindful breathing, regulated consciously, reduces stress and anxiety. When you take a deep breath, it sends an electrical signal up to the brain to relax all the muscles in the body.  Every thought we have can trigger a biochemical effect. As we become more aware of our thoughts and we acknowledge them, it leads to an understanding of who we are. Serotonin, an endogenous neurotransmitter, associated with relaxation is released.

Health can be defined as "a state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." (World Health Org.)

The Mind & Body Connection

A strong mind and body synthesis exists and one can start the healing process by positively directing the mind. After all, the only thing we can surely control is our attitude!

Breath is the bridge between the body and the mind

When our body is sluggish, we exercise.
When our energy is sluggish, we breathe.
Breathing exercises reduce stress and anxiety triggered by cancer diagnosis.

Yoga & Self Awareness

Mindful yoga practice done daily for 15 minutes has proven to address the imbalance in the body as evidenced by disease. Conscious living and harmony with nature serve to further boost the immune system and promote healing.
